What do you perceive when the word “bedspreads” strike your ears? A decorative frosting covering your bed with elegance!! Yes, that is what a bedspread is – an icing, a frosting, covering and protecting your bed. And also protecting you from the cool air conditioner during summers!! Something too close to the comforter family, with the difference lying only in the size and the time of use: the comforters come to duty only at nights and the bedspreads are the day-duty-goers:-)
Now, if I start on the styles and fabrics of bedspreads then this is going to be a never-ending blog, luring you to a nice dreamy sleep. So I thought let me talk about my favorite cotton bedspreads.
Must be thinking “how silly”, “what a mundane choice, away from the luxurious ones, the satins and the velvets.” Right? But yes, you are right. Cotton bedspreads hardly carry the words “luxurious” or “gorgeous” with them. But still they are my favorite. Do you know why? For their strength. Hand wash, machine wash or dry-cleaning, they are strong enough to stand anything.
What is special about the cotton bedspreads is their classy, traditional look. For those who want their bedspreads to match the draperies and the interior settings, cotton bedspreads are the best.
By the way, this is not a designer’s expert advice OK. Still try some hand-woven cotton bedspreads next time. Hope my designer outlook works:-)
